Mel is not the most popular guy right now due to his latest outbursts, but if you need your fix of 70’s Australian motorcycle ultraviolence, check out Stone. Pre-dating Mad Max by a few years, the film features the guy who played Toecutter as the leader of a satanic group of bikers and modelesque bad girls. Ironically the gang is the one being hunted by a serial killer. Extra points for the only film to feature Japanese cafes and a Hearse-cycle.

Gotta give props when due and Comune (of which I’m a fan) put together this biker run lifestyle vid. As an added bonus, Jenny, who also models for Altru, is in it scarfing down a roasted frankfurter. 750CC convergence. Click to watch and make sure you view both!
Build your own outfits at Couturious…reminds us a little of an 80’s movie called Weird Science…this one’s called Osaka Harley, wearing Altru’s Tokyo tee.
Who is this standing behind Audrina wearing Altru’s Helvetica at the Ryan Cabrera concert?
Mystery Solved.

Rock
Found this gem at Amoeba Records. Produced and hosted by legendary street scene anthropologist, Michael Holman, Graffiti Rock is the pilot episode of a hip-hop American Bandstand type dance show. The video cues up hip-hop’s historical tipping point from urban neighborhood and NY art/hipster phenomena to full blown pop cultural force.
Filmed in 1984, the culmination of 10+ years of oldschool radness uprocks its way onto the soundstage, but the crossfader may have slid just a few beats early. Maybe if Graffiti Rock would have come out two years later with License to Ill as a gateway, network television may have been ready to pick this up. Our loss, but at least someone was smart enough to distribute this dvd. Run DMC (Rev. Run pre-bubblebath tweets), Shannon, Kool Moe Dee, Special K, and The New York City Breakerss (without which we may never have had Jabawockeez), Vincent Gallo, and Debi Mazar, are all on set.
And though everyone seems to be fascinated with early 90’s retro fashion these days, this video oracle to showcase examples of 2010’s super-broad horizontal striped polos, giant square-framed vanity glasses, fitted white pants, and ripped stockings along with the ubiquitous American Apparel leggings, skinny jeans, Sperry topsiders and high-waisted girl’s denim of the last few years. Fresh.
Even if watching MMA at Happy Endings or rocking EasyTones at Starbuck’s is the closest you get to maximum workout, you will still appreciate the Energia de Campeones provided by one of the greatest fighters in history. Another 99Cent Store treasure.

This is for real “retro” perfect after a Sunday drive in your Model T. Making brass kick ass again, PBC needs to be the house band for the back room at Cole’s.
With recent shows at Bar 107, The Gorbals, and Two Headed Horse these guys and girls seem to be in all the right places. Catch them on Sundays for impromptu blastings around Amoeba and the Farmer’s Market.
We are still trying to figure out who these Altru rockin’ Olympians are.

This guy rides his scooter on Nanjing bridge’s sidewalk and verbally and/or forcibly puts the kabash on suicidal jumpers. He then proceeds to hang out, smoke cigarettes, and drink shots with them. This video shows Chen Si in action but leaves out the best part: Chen will berate you immediately after saving your life for being weak and not displaying Chinese pride and strength. Rad dude of the month award.

As seen in The Hills premier, it seems the Spenster is cool with Heidi’s transformation. Pictured in the ‘before’ photo wearing the Altru USA 5rings tee, he is not included in the ‘after’ because we are waiting for him also update his own look by wearing a new Altru tee. A much easier, cheaper, and painless route compared to his other half.

…are as rare as snow in Los Angeles. Luckily, a few years back I discovered this little place in Sherman Oaks called QT’s Chicago Dogs. Vienna hot dogs (garnished in the proper nuclear-green relish Chicago fashion), Jake and Elwood Blues approved Maxwell Street Polish sausages, Jus-soaked-sport-peppered Italian beef sandwiches, as well as other gastronomic indulgences like Gyros, cheese steaks, hamburgers, grace the menu.
Pictured is the double-your-fun 12″ version of the classic hot dog (also available in a William Perry 1/2 lb. format) For an extra dollar, you can even add an extra natural intestinal casing around your Vienna treat. And don’t forget to wear your Altru Chicagoland t-shirt when you go!

The Altru designers have been strolling around the office in the suede Keds Chukkas they got dirt cheap from Gilt Groupe. Hopefully we’ll get some Altru stuff on there for you guys and girls. One day sales on brands ranging from Burberry and Marc Jacobs to Puma and Juicy. You’ll never need to put pants on to go shopping again. It’s invite only but you’re invited by Altru.
Because of the YouTube, video, alot of people know about Matthew’s sunglasses face tattoo. He’s a really awesome guy and a friend. Thought it was funny when we found this picture of him walking his dog a few months before the tattoo (check out the rad stache) and he’s wearing the Altru “Shutter Shades” tee. Sign of things to come.

Altru "Destroy" t-shirt on board the Grill Em All truck
So as the Grill ‘Em All truck continues to slay L.A. with Altru’s Cam on board, we are happy to announce that the Altru Destroy t-shirt seems to have become an unofficial crew member. On any given night, you will catch at least one of the ground beef warriors waging battle adorned in Altru’s cotton-spun armor. Last week’s debut was a sizzling success. The “Waste Em All” burger was the beards-and-flannels favorite, while the “Molly Hatchet” and “Blue Cheer” cross-bowed the foodies’ hearts. And the “Dee Schneider” Peanut Butter and Jelly Maple Bacon Burger is a truly underrated gemstone; sweet and savory at the same time for those who like to eat desert with their dinner. Grab one tonight at Choke Motorcycle Shop and Cha Cha!

Finally, a foodie truck for people who actually take eating seriously. While other hipster Restaurant Vehicles have delighted us with fusion cuisine and pretty desserts, it is rare to find one cooking up grub that true roach coach aficionados could enjoy: good ol’ American burgers. Inspired variations, such as the “Molly Hatchet” (seared fennel smoked sausage gravy, apple wood smoked bacon, maple drizzle) and the “Blue Cheer” (cranberry gastrique, maytag blue spread, munchos potato chips) will keep the bloggers’ thumbs busy touchtyping on their iPhones. Meanwhile, the rest of us will be scarfing down the sweet meats with a handful of tater tots and 24oz beverage. Veggie versions available if you are so inclined.
Just as Lars took on the big boys at Napster, the GrillEmAll doods and their cherished Chariot have thrown down the gauntlet; calling out all the fancy sit-down-climate-controlled gourmet L.A. burger joints which have been popping up like Wack-A-Moles. Cam Amick defiantly takes a day out of his intense Altru shipping schedule to moonlight on the Grill Em All meat crew December 19th (1640 N. Spring Street at the Family Industries opening party 8pm til’ you turn into a werewolf).
It’s Burgertime.
Hopefully you enjoyed Altru’s appearance on the Wayne’s World meets Trendspotting-for-the-PBR-and-Bacon-crowd broadcast by the IATT guys last night. Now that our blog is working again, I am giving these dudes from the city of Da Bears and Vienna a proper mention. Especially because they are the ones who came up with this gem of internet-tainment (featuring Hanna Beth from the Altru Apparel website):
The guys at I Am the Trend will feature Altru in thier live broadcast tonight at www.iatt.tv
8PM Central time so that’s 9pm East Coast and 6PM West Coast.
Get there!
Lots of new blogs coming. Just waiting on an update to our server. Thanks! In the meantime, check out all new Altru designs for men and women!
